Cetacean Section Villa Arbusto
The cetacean section of Villa Arbusto in Lacco Ameno, presents a fix exhibition dedicated to cetaceans of our waters.
The exhibition is embellished in the upper locals of Villa Gingerò with popular cetacean panels realized with Maurizio Wurtz tables and photo by Delphis researchers.
There is a skeleton of a young dolphin (Delphinus delphis)stranded in Ischia on November 2003 and found by volunteers.
The skeleton was reassembled by taxidermist Vincenzo Cicala in collaboration with Nicola Maio, curator of Museo Archeologico dell’Università Federico II. It represents the first stranding documented about this specimen on the island of Ischia.
In the window also historical elements about the Stazione Zoologica A. Dohrn and the most common dolphin’s quarries.
A section is dedicated to the Ischia researches, with the descriptions of studies and most important results by Ischia Dolphin Project.
Finally, a video hall, totally blue to be surrounded by sounds and underwater images of dolphins.
The show was realized by the association Delphis with the Patrocinio of the municipality of Lacco Amrno, Museo Zoologico dell’ Università Federico II and the Stazione Zoologica A. Dohrn.
