J. E. Chevalley de Rivaz
He was until his death the medical spa's most famous of the island. Born in Vevey in the canton of Vaud, he studied in Paris, became a doctor, and in 1830 settled in Casamicciola. The multifaceted and versatile doctor was also famous businessman, in the beautiful area called Castagneto he developed a "House of Health" that met the needs of the times.
