Paolo Buchner
Paolo Buchner was born in Nuremberg, Bavaria, 12.4.1886 and died in Ischia on 19.10.1978. He will attend the University of Monaco graduated with a thesis on eteronomosomi of Orthoptera. In 1910, thanks to a scholarship, he comes to Naples to study his research at the zoological station in the city. The young scholar remains in the principal town for a year and he was able to do some hiking in our island. The trip to Italy will be the involuntary cause for which they will learn his future wife, Mrs. Miliana, a young student of fine arts of Gorizia. The young scholar will take Italian lessons from her marrying in 1913, the next year will be born their only son George, the future archaeologist. Paolo Buchner has a brilliant academic career, in 1927 bought land on the hill of St. Alessandro, here from 1928 to 1930 will build his house in Mediterranean style. Will settle permanently in Ischia in 1944. In 1939 he begins to have passion for to the past and the nature of the island of lschia and publish Stone houses in Ischia.
Paul Buchner with his works that have as their object of research the island of Ischia, can rightfully be part of that group of writers on the island, which over the centuries have devoted their studies to the knowledge of the scientific and historic green Aenaria. He had wanted to include during the break from its products and demanding scientific studies and significant experimental research, interest in the history, geology, archeology of the island of Ischia. Paul Buchner, got good recognition from many quarters for his contribution to scientific research, will confer the three degrees "honoris causa" (in medicine in 1958 in biological sciences in 1959 in Natural Sciences in 1960). In the quiet of the beautiful villa with magnificent vistas, this home made just for study and inspiration and to listen to the voices, born Gast auf Ischia conceived and developed in the 60s and published in 1968.
