GIARDINI LA MORTELLA COMING SOON

After the long stop due to the COVID-19 emergency, the La Mortella Gardens announce that they will reopen for visits on Tuesday 16 of June 2020. During the lockdown months the Gardens have never stopped, and while nature continued its cycle with success of seasons and blooms, the staff continued to work to prepare for the reopening, so that La Mortella could welcome visitors, once phase 2 started, in total safety and in compliance with current regulations.

The William Walton Foundation, which administers and manages La Mortella Gardens, has paid the utmost attention to applying governmental and regional provisions, in order to guarantee visitors a peaceful, fulfilling, informative and health-free stay in the garden . Being a visit that takes place outdoors, in the healthy air enriched by the scent of flowers and the sea breeze, the risk factors are very limited; however the Foundation has taken all the necessary measures, and invites its visitors to respect the rules and observe good prevention practices.

The garden will be open as usual on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 19 (last entry at 18).

You can book your ticket on the phone at n. 081-986220, but the ticket office, obviously managed according to the security rules, will be open and functioning regularly. It will therefore be possible to buy the ticket directly on the spot, even if the need to distance the entrances in full compliance with the rules could lead to an extension of waiting times. The quota of entrances will be organized and managed by internal staff.

To access the Garden it is mandatory to always wear a mask, wash and disinfect your hands often (various dispensers are available to visitors, as well as numerous public toilets), avoid gatherings, keep the minimum social distance of at least one meter from other people. It is also necessary to avoid shaking hands and touching one's face; and it is recommended to cough and sneeze in the elbow. People who have flu-like symptoms or fever should responsibly avoid showing up at the gate.

Informative signs have been placed inside the garden that remind visitors of the safety rules. The staff will also be available both to enforce distances and avoid gatherings and to attract visitors to respect the rules. The garden facilities, primarily the numerous bathrooms, will be sanitized several times a day and sanitizing gel dispensers will be made available to guests at various points: shop, tea-house, ticket offices.
Where necessary, in the greenhouses, in the museum and in the busiest points of the garden, one-way routes were organized, cordoned off and indicated by special indications and stickers on the ground.

Throughout the garden and in the Museum, thanks to the free wifi available to the public, the virtual guided tour has been implemented, which will allow you to read directly on your smart phone the news about the plants, the history and the curiosities of the garden by scanning the QR code present on various signs and at key points. However, this digital update does not exclude the possibility of requesting a guided tour, carried out strictly in compliance with the prescribed distancing, or of orienting oneself with the traditional leaflets and the paper map.
In this first period of opening to the public, no concerts will take place in the gardens, but selected pieces of William Walton's works will be disseminated in the Museum and in the Tea house, so that you never lose the sense of the profound union between garden and music that constitutes the essence of La Mortella Gardens.

The bar service is active in the Tea House - Tea Room, located on a panoramic terrace in the Lower Garden not far from the ticket office. Recall that the obligation to wear the mask remains, which can be removed only sitting at the table. Digital menu accessible with the smart-phone, dispenser with sanitizing liquid available to the public, indications suitable to indicate the safety distances, and a careful spacing of tables and chairs in accordance with the law will allow you to enjoy a moment of pleasant break in peace . It will also be possible to book a packed lunch, to be consumed on your own in the various stopping points, benches and tables, scattered throughout the garden.

The La Mortella Gardens, a fascinating mix of nature and culture, return to being available to the public for unforgettable ecological-cultural excursions, an ideal space for walking among tropical plants, getting lost in the shades of color of flowers, discovering the history of a great musician of the 1900s, get to know the exotic birds housed in the aviary up close, enjoy the exciting views over the bay of Forio.
